Exactrx takes home the win at the 3686 Pitch Competition

NASHVILLE, Tenn., September 17, 2026 — Exactrx, an AI-powered medical billing company serving surgery centers and outpatient networks, won the 2026 3686 Pitch Competition on Tuesday, September 15. The competition, presented by Amazon, is the closing event of Launch Tennessee's annual 3686 conference. Exactrx received a $10,000 cash prize and a 12-month office package from LUCID Private Offices.
Five companies pitched before a panel of judges who included Brandon Bruce of Market Square Ventures, Logan Leatherwood of Launch Tennessee, George Wilson of Vanderbilt University, Jason Kuo of Tech Square Ventures, and Whitney Williams of Beliade Consumer Partners.
Athena Doshi, co-founder and CEO, presented on behalf of the company.
"The biggest barrier to care is financial. Doctors paid late can't see more patients, and the common denominator was always the claim. We're building toward the last claim ever submitted," said Doshi.
Exactrx deploys AI agents inside a client's existing EMR as credentialed users. The agents code each case to payer policy, generate charges, collect documentation, build the claim, and submit it. Exceptions route to Exactrx billing experts. The client never touches a flagged claim.
Sixty days after its first production launch, processing roughly 1,500 cases per month, Exactrx reports:
- First-pass claim approval of 99.1%, up from 68%
- 98% of claims processed with zero human touch
- Time to payment reduced from six months to 30 days
Exactrx is headquartered in Brentwood, TN. Co-founders include Ellard Li, CTO, Dr. Jan Krumsiek, Head of AI, and Dr. Gina Cocos, Head of Delivery. Investors include Northwestern Medicine Ventures, Techstars, physician angels from Texas Orthopedic Associates and Hospital for Special Surgery, and executives from Philips and Johnson & Johnson.
Provision Surgical received the Audience Choice Award. One of None, For the People, and Blackwing Space also competed.
